Classroom Locations
Rutland County Head Start is a part-day, part-year program, with extended day, year-round childcare services at its main facility in Rutland City. Rutland County Head Start operates classrooms in several locations, with its focus of operations in Rutland City, the county’s largest population center. Click here for classroom street addresses.

All Rutland City classsrooms are located on convenient public transportation routes served by The Bus.

Meadow Street: The main center, located on Meadow Street in Rutland City, houses five classrooms. Head Start services are provided in a part-day, part-year format from September through May. All classrooms include extended-day, year-round childcare services Monday through Friday. The Meadow Street site is NAEYC-accredited, has a 5 STARS rating from the Vermont Child Development Division and is Qualified Public Pre-K Provider.

Rutland City Public Schools: RCHS collaborates with Rutland City Public Schools to operate inclusionary Early Essential Education (EEE)-Head Start classrooms at Pierpoint Early Learning Center (Northwest Primary School), and at our Meadow Street center. This collaboration allows Rutland City Head Start children with a diagnosed disability to experience a school environment prior to Kindergarten, in a classroom with “typical” peers. The collaborative classrooms serve children in a part-day, part-year format. Rutland City Public Schools provides transportation, free of charge, to all children enrolled in the collaborative. Rutland City Schools also has Paraeducators in some Meadow Street classrooms to serve EEE children with diagnosed disabilities. This inclusionary model at Meadow Street allows Head Start children with disabilities to receive special education services in a typical preschool setting.

Bennington-Rutland Supervisory Union: RCHS collaborates with BRSU, with part-day, part-year Head Start services at the Mettawee Community School Early Essential Education classroom in Pawlet, Vermont.

We also collaborate with many Rutland County early education programs to provide comprehensive center-based preschool experiences for low-income families, and services for Head Start children with disabilities. RCHS has agreements to coordinate disabilities services with all seven Local Education Agencies in Rutland County: Rutland Central Supervisory Union, Rutland South Supervisory Union, Rutland Northeast Supervisory Union, Bennington-Rutland Supervisory Union, Rutland Southwest Supervisory Union, Addison-Rutland Supervisory Union, and Rutland City Public Schools.
